Emma is a highly experienced healthcare professional with nearly 30 years’ experience in the NHS, having worked across four NHS Trusts in a variety of senior and specialist roles. Her career has included positions as a Ward Sister, Research Nurse leading clinical trials, and Clinical Nurse Specialist in Upper Gastrointestinal Cancers. For the past four years, she has led the development and delivery of the Oncology Prehabilitation and Rehabilitation Service at the Royal Berkshire Foundation NHS Trust.
A key highlight of Emma’s work has been the design and implementation of the Oncology Prehabilitation Service at the Royal Berkshire Foundation NHS Trust. She led the service from concept through to delivery, identifying patient need, developing clinical pathways, securing stakeholder engagement, and embedding the service within existing oncology care. Building on its success, Emma and her team are now working in collaboration with the Thames Valley Cancer Alliance (TVCA) to support the rollout of this service across the Alliance, helping to ensure consistent, high-quality prehabilitation support for cancer patients across the region.
Alongside her clinical leadership, Emma has developed strong collaborative relationships with a wide range of local charities. She is currently a Trustee of My Cancer My Choices, bringing valuable insight into the charity sector and effectively bridging this knowledge with the strategic priorities and operational focus of her NHS Trust. Emma is deeply committed to a holistic, patient-centred approach to care, empowering individuals to make informed and personalised choices throughout their cancer journey.
Outside of her professional role, Emma enjoys spending time with her family, has volunteered for over 17 years training Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, and is also an enthusiastic cold-water swimmer.
